Gemeinsam haben Wilson und Burton einen Sound geschaffen, der nicht in Retro-Pastiche abgleitet, sondern vielmehr ein beschwörendes Echo, einen Traum von der Vergangenheit darstellt. Im Vergleich zu seinem gefeierten Debütalbum 'I Can Go With You' aus dem Jahr 2020 nutzt Burton hier eine weitaus größere Leinwand und verleiht den darin enthaltenen Emotionen ein neues Gefühl von Dringlichkeit und Intensität. Burton hat ein Händchen dafür, reines Laurel Canyon AM-Gold zu schürfen. Pastorale Streicherarrangements blühen im Hintergrund von Sams markantem, honigsüßem Gesang auf - wie ein moderner Campbell, Orbison oder Nilsson.
