You know Goldfinch is one of my absolute favorites because I have the most pictures of it. It’s an early bloomer; and I can’t decide if I like the blooms or the foliage more. For those who don’t grow much filler to add to arrangements; Goldfinch is going to be your best friend. The greenery and buds on Goldfinch add the perfect extra oomph to any arrangement. 

The small 1 1/2-2 inch cheery blooms are fantastic. Depending on the age of the blooms, they can be completely yellow, or show accents of white, rose and red. The stem strength is beyond comparison. The most floriferous plant I grow by a landslide.  You can’t cut enough to keep this workhorse down. Sturdy, deep burgundy stems add striking contrast to the bright blooms, making it a favorite for cut flower growers and florists alike.

This variety produces abundantly and holds beautifully in the vase; an ideal choice for any bouquet. I joke that if I could have Goldfinch in every color I would be smitten. Well, I got a completely white Goldfinch sport that I’m hoping stays true over the next few seasons that I’ll be able to share (pic at the end). Don’t pass up Goldfinch. It is extraordinary. Plant height 4’. Hybridized by Lee Hemmings Carlton of Goldenrod Gardens and introduced in 2025. 

Product Listing: This listing is for one potted dahlia cutting. The rooting cube has been removed, and roots have been treated with Mykos Mycorrhizal Fungi Organic Root Stimulator. Two bottom sets of lateral leaves have been removed and nodes buried to encourage tuber production. Soil-less, Sunshine Mix #4 medium was used in a 3 inch pot. Potted cutting is securely shipped in a cardboard, reverse tuck box.

Dry Mouth Relief
Having been using these for quite awhile now for a severe dry mouth. They really help to make the mouth create saliva, thus protecting the teeth from erosion, etc. They are discs with a dark side which is placed above the teeth on the gum. It will stick there in a minute or two and remains in place until it melts and disappears. I use two at night and have never had a problem with them coming loose, this creating a choking hazard. They remain i place and melt. Sometimes I wake at night and my mouth is dry, so put a couple more in and I'm good to go until morning. I would recommend these to anyone with a dry mouth. There is no bad taste. They are somewhat expensive when using long term, but worth it to me. Have not found them locally, although Walmart has them online...same price or a little more than Amazon. Will continue to buy from these sellers.

If you have dry mouth, these are a fantastic option!!
I am a pharmacist, so I have come across and used a lot of different products to try to treat the chronic dry mouth problem that I have. This is by far the BEST product I have come across. They are a bit expensive, but I consider them worth the cost. You place the disc in your mouth, on your gum, and it adheres to the gum. The product lasts for a good hour for me. I use them when I go to sleep, to help avoid dry mouth and drainage down my throat when going to sleep. I use 2 when I go to bed, and sometimes have to wake up in the middle of the night to use 2 more. But I love them!! A similar product is OraMoist, but that product turns to a gel-like goo that I found very distasteful. Biotene is highly advertised, but absolutely useless for my problem. It made my throat scratchy and made me cough. Use this product instead!!

Always keep them at hand
After radiation I was left with compromised saliva production and these Xylimelts really help. I use one any time I feel my mouth becoming dry, when I’m going to do any sort of physical activity, when the weather is hot, after eating astringent foods or drinks - because the taste is very mild you can even keep one in your mouth while eating or drinking. They agreed really, really well out of sight on my gum line. I always put one in at night before sleep as I’m pretty sure they cut down on the dry throat that can lead to snoring. I have a pack in each purse, glove compartment, gym bag and pre-load several packs in my luggage so they’re always available. One of those little things that makes life easier and more pleasant. I’m overjoyed I survived cancer, but there have been changes after the fact. Xylimelts make at least one a whole lot easier to bear
