Head Raptor 120 RS

Head has been making some of the best fitting, best skiiing boots in the world for many years, but up until recently they have received very little attention in the US market.  They are no longer flying under the radar.  Now, with an UBER successful World Cup racing team (i.e. Bodie Miller, Lindsey Vonn, Ted Ligety, Didier Cuche), and freeskiing legends Jon Olsson and Simon Dumont all skiing on Head product by choice, not because Head pays them big money, Head has proven to the world that athletes who make a living on the podium choose Head equipment when they need to win.

Raptor boots are the latest high performance design from the "boot brains" at Head.  This shell design has been super successful as a race boot.  The Headfit Pro liner fits very well right out of the box, but can be heat molded if necessary (this will make the boot overall looser, which is not always a good thing).  The Raptor's very anatomically shaped shell has new geometry influenced by World Cup racing needs, and offers the same close to the foot low volume design demanded by top skiers.

So, what makes Raptor so special.  There are lots of 98mm last boots on the market.  Compared to earlier generations, Raptor now has more room in the toes, and a more anatomical shape in the heel.  It also has a different fit through the intersection of the instep and leg, extending deeper into that area to allow better articulation of the ankle joint.  The ramp angle (heel height) is lower, and the forward lean is less than other, older race boot designs.

Check out these features of the Head Raptor RS:

  • Mono injected shell - Yea, it might be harder to get in and out of than those multi injected boots with soft flaps over the top of the foot, and it doesn't have replacable soles.  But, that is a small price to pay for a boot that is torsionally very stiff, and offers the ultimate link between foot and ski.  And, mono-injected shell is easier to modify where needed.  Grind it, stretch it, punch it out, whatever is necessary to get the ultimate match of foot to shell.  Raptor with HeatFit Pro liners fit very, very well, but it is nice to know that you can have mods made if necessary.

  • SuperHeat Pro Liner - with shock absorbing material behind the leg.

  • Rear Support Tuning - Allows the forward lean to be locked in at multiple different angles, and the flex to be set to 2 different settings (110 and 120 flex)

  • Flex Index is 120/110 -  There is plenty of support for aggressive skiing, but enough forward travel to work perfectly with today's newer, shorter length skis.

  • Adjustable Spoiler - A Velcro spoiler behind the leg can be removed to make the top of the boot larger, or to decrease the forward lean angle.  It can easily be moved to any location necessary to improve support, and the rubber material offers additional shock absorbtion behind the leg. The fit around the top of the leg, and the angle of the cuff is very important for a performance skier.

  • 98 mm Shell Last - is a very close fit, but the anatomical shape of the shell allows it to fit a wide range of feet.  Nice and close in the heel area, but with more room for the toes than other true race type shells.

  • Aluminum buckles are all micro adjustable of course.  Very easy to latch and easy to operate with gloves on.

  • Dual Cuff Cant Alignment - Allows the upper cuff of the boot to be aligned so that your feet are flat on the snow.

  • Lycra Lined Upper Shaft - The foot glides right in thanks to this Lycra slide panel at the back of the cuff, and the pull up handle on the tongue allows the skier to open the boot wide with just one hand.

How does the Raptor fit?  Very close and snug fit for the average to narrower foot right out of the box.  Fairly cushy for a race boot, but not too mushy for the performance minded freeskier.  If you have a wide foot, or a super high instep, this may not be the best choice for you.  But, for most skiers with average to slightly lower volume feet, this boot will be the perfect choice.  The liner can be heat molded, but this is not necessary, as it will mold itself to your foot during the first few days you ski in it.

Be sure to still floss
Color: Rose Gold
This is a great product. However, make sure you still floss. I used the water flosser only between my dental cleanings and I ended up with a lot of tarter that had to be scraped off. I was told that I should continue using string floss as plaque is sticky and a water flosser can leave some behind. The hygienist compared it to expecting rain clean your car well. I still give it 5 stars as it remove particles from between my teeth that floss leaves behind. Also, my teeth were nearly perfectly clean during my last visit to the dentist. There was virtually no tarter as I followed her recommendation to both string and water floss.

They leak and the don’t last, but they’re sleek.
Color: Black
I love the shape of this flosser, that aspect is perfect. That’s the reason I’ve bought (3) over the years. But unfortunately, I’m done. Looking for a new gig. Every single one has leaked water. I just dealt with it. But the year and a half life they last is the deal breaker. Buy the insurance. You will use it. They simply do not last forever.

Perfect for home or traveling
Color: White
This is my second water floss, product, and by far the best. Yes, the water reservoir is not as large as some of the others, but it is perfectly adequate. Easy to use, has three different settings, that are easy to change. Definitely enough power to get all the food out from between my teeth. I use this when I had braces, and I use it now with my retainer, so that my teeth are always clean. I like the design, and the fact that it doesn’t have a tube to suck the water. The charge lasts for an extended period of time and recharging is very quick. I can go two to three weeks, and it’s still got a good charge to it. Highly recommend.

Surprisingly Great!
Color: Black
I’m writing this review because I am actually Overly satisfied with this product. There are many high quality brands that have similar “water flossers” with high price tags. The price on this was relatively inexpensive so I decided to try it knowing Amazon’s great return policy. I’ve had it for just over a week and I’m borderline addicted to how good my teeth feel after using this along with normal brushing and mouthwash. It’s a legit “just left the dentist feeling” I can say for the price it is a good value and works great. This comes with a few extra standard heads, a specialized head with small brush for braces and a tongue scraper. I primarily use the standard head which is just a small jet that allows you to shoot the water stream between your teeth. I also have used the tongue scraper just to try it and it’s not bad. Allows you to scrape your tongue while a stream of water cleans and rinses. Anyone who flosses regularly knows it sucks and can be gross. Let’s face it, you are ripping old food out of your teeth. It’s a necessary evil for a healthy mouth. I used the small plastic floss picks for a while and they do a decent job. Dental hygienists usually argue it’s not the same but I think it’s better than not flossing at all. Now my routine is a quick floss with the floss picks followed by this water flosser - and it’s fantastic. The unit is well made and has a few different modes. I stick to the standard mode which is a constant jet of water. It’s aggressive and can be intimidating at first so here are some tips I think will help: 1. I use slightly warm water. Cold water blasted at your teeth is not fun. Warm water is a way better experience. The reservoir is easy to fill right from the sink. 2. It will take a couple tries to figure exactly how to use it. If you just hit the power button it will jet water everywhere before you get it in your mouth. My suggestion is put it in your mouth, aim the head between your teeth, close your mouth and then hit the power button. Once it starts you just move it from tooth to tooth between your teeth. Once you get the hang of it it’s great. I do my top teeth, spit out, then do the bottom row and spit out. I follow it up with brushing and mouthwash. Literally the fresh from the dentist feeling. 3. The reservoir is small so it runs out quickly but it’s so easy to refill I wouldn’t call it an issue. If it were larger it would be bulky and the other brands that have a big tank and hose are just too much to deal with. After a week of using I can quickly do all my teeth with one fill. I usually do a second round as well because im addicted. 4. Be careful of turning it on when it’s not in your mouth. The jet is strong and could shoot you in the eye. Not joking. 5. It may be awkward at first but once you get used to doing it you get better at it and it’s much easier. The power button is your friend. I turn it on and off to control the jetting to get more time out of the reservoir and to prevent spraying everywhere. 6. It has a USB charger and it works well. It seems to go almost a week without charging and I use twice a day sometimes - because I’m addicted. Overall it’s great value for the low price. I’m Not sure how long it will last but I would definitely get another one if this one failed.

Long-Term Review – Still Works Like New After Months of Daily Use
Color: Black, Color: Black
I purchased the Nicwell Water Dental Flosser in June 2024, and I’ve been using it consistently ever since. I wanted to wait before reviewing so I could speak to durability and battery life — and I’m glad I did. Performance: This flosser does a very thorough job cleaning between teeth and along the gumline. It removes debris that traditional string floss sometimes misses and leaves my mouth feeling noticeably fresher. The pressure is strong enough to deep clean but not uncomfortable. Modes & Usability: The different modes are useful depending on how sensitive your gums feel. Switching between them is simple, and the controls are straightforward. It’s lightweight and easy to handle, even in the shower. Battery Life (Very Impressive): One of the standout features is the battery. Months later, it still holds a charge just like it did when I first bought it. I don’t have to recharge it often, and charging is quick and easy. Build Quality: The unit feels solid and well-made. I haven’t experienced leaks, power issues, or performance decline. It still operates like new. Who It’s Great For: • Anyone who struggles with traditional floss • People with sensitive gums • Those wanting a portable option for travel • Anyone looking to upgrade their oral hygiene routine I haven’t had any problems with it, and it’s been consistent since day one. For the price and quality, I think it’s a great investment in daily dental care. Highly recommend.
