Six Questions Your Touching Hearts at Home Franchise Financial Model Must Answer

We developed this senior care franchise financial model using detailed market research and operational data. The pre-populated assumptions cover everything from hourly companionship rates to caregiver PPE, with a Year 1 revenue target of $1,350,000 and an initial EBITDA of $296,000. You can edit every line to reflect your local market or any other US territory. Real data beats gut feelings every single time.

When will this unit reach profitability?

This franchise unit reaches profitability in its first year of operation, generating $296,000 in EBITDA. By Year 2, earnings grow to $430,000 as you scale your caregiver pool and client base. You will defintely need to manage the 6% royalty fee and labor costs to protect these margins. Profit follows tight scheduling and high caregiver retention.

Profitability Drivers

  • Optimize caregiver matching to reduce turnover
  • Upsell premium concierge services for higher margins
  • Maintain 6% royalty cap through volume growth
[dynamic_pic9]

How much capital is needed and how is it allocated?

You need approximately $1,179,000 to launch, which includes $147,000 in hard startup costs and a significant $1,032,000 cash buffer. This capital covers your initial franchise fee, office build-out, and the working capital required to reach the break-even point in month four. Cash is your oxygen during the ramp-up phase.

Major Capital Uses

  • Initial Franchise Fee: $49,500
  • Office Leasehold Improvements: $25,000
  • Supervisor Vehicle and Equipment: $20,000
  • Minimum Cash Reserve: $1,032,000
[dynamic_pic10]

What is the expected return on investment?

The model projects an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 12.67% and a Return on Equity (ROE) of 3. While the unit is profitable early, the full payback of the initial $1,179,000 investment occurs after Year 5 due to the high initial cash requirement. Long-term equity value is the real prize here.

Key Return Metrics

  • Internal Rate of Return: 12.67%
  • Payback Period: 5+ Years
  • Year 5 EBITDA: $1,000,000
[dynamic_pic11]

Where is the monthly break-even point?

The franchise unit reaches its break-even point in April 2026, just four months after launching services. The primary driver for this quick turn is the volume of hourly companionship hours, which must offset fixed costs like the $3,200 monthly office rent. Speed to market determines your early survival.

Levers for Faster Break-Even

  • Aggressive local digital marketing for early leads
  • Pre-hiring and training core caregivers in Month 1
  • Securing hospital referral partnerships before launch
[dynamic_pic12]

What is the cash runway and lowest point?

The lowest cash point occurs in March 2026, with a minimum cash balance of $1,032,000. You need enough runway to cover the initial four months of operating losses and the $147,000 in upfront CAPEX. Monitoring the timing of caregiver payroll against client collections is critical. Cash flow is more important than paper profit during a ramp.

Cash Protection Actions

  • Phase furniture and fixture purchases over 60 days
  • Negotiate tiered rent starts with the landlord
  • Use a 15-day billing cycle for private-duty clients
[dynamic_pic13]

How do different scenarios impact the outcome?

Switching between Low, Medium, and High scenarios will shift your Year 1 revenue from the $1,350,000 baseline and impact your peak cash need. A 10% drop in revenue or a spike in caregiver labor costs can delay your break-even date by several months. Preparation means planning for the worst while executing for the best.

Improve High Case Odds

  • Increase average ticket via premium concierge plans
  • Reduce travel reimbursements through dense routing
  • Boost caregiver productivity with better scheduling

Good quality, if you keep them oiled last a long time
If you keep these oiled and do not soak them, these boards last a long time. Good variety of sizes, durable (I use the larger 2 daily), and again, if you keep them oiled, easy to wipe down and haven't shown a sign of splitting. Durable as well. Would buy again.

Better than thin plastic boards
I used to use one of those thin/bendable plastic cutting boards, thinking it's easier to transfer food into pots/pans from the board, but they tend to get bent in time and they're simply too thin and I hated the feeling of my knife pretty much hitting the kitchen counter. So, I decided to buy this set. I wanted to try a wooden board, but didn't want to spend too much in case I didn't like it, and this set had the perfect price tag and I liked the fact it came with 4 different sizes, so that I can see what size would actually be more useful. I've been using it for 2 months now they're doing great (except one of them started splitting a bit and started showing some strange black dots on the side... possibly mold??? though I can't think of any reason why mold would grow on just one of them. Maybe it's related to the fact that it's the only one that's cracking. And this is the only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5.) Anyway, apart from that one, the rest are doing well and having 3 boards is plenty. I like the juice groove to avoid spilling liquid on the board, as it happened so many time using the bendable plastic boards. I'm handwashing them with dish soap. They seem to dry pretty fast, and so far no stains etc. on the surface. They're not super duper thick so even the largest one is not too difficult to handle. I sometimes use them to serve some food like appetizers, snacks, pizzas and sandwiches, etc. too!

Updated review: spitting and splintering
UPDATE: Originally, one of the boards arrived with a split in it, but I was still happy with them. After a few weeks of light use, hand washing and drying of the boards, I figured it was time to update this review and knock these down to 1 star. The boards do not hold up very well. Cut marks are deep, and they are starting to splinter. Another of the boards has also developed a split. Save your money and go with cutting boards from someone else. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought these cutting boards to cut down on microplastic exposure. This would be a 5 star review except that one of the boards arrived cracked (noticed while hand washing all of them before use). Despite the one cracked board, I did not return them, as I immediately started using the boards, was too busy to deal with it at the time, and the overall value was still there. These boards are great, the value is excellent since you get several of different sizes. I like that all sizes have the moat for juices, because sometimes you are cutting one or two chicken breasts or one steak and don’t want to have to grab a big board. I honestly am writing this review because I wouldn’t be surprised if the company sends me a replacement. If they do, I will update the review to reflect their customer service.
