A soulful tour of Palestinian cooking today from the Ottolenghi restaurants' executive chef and partner--120 recipes shaped by his personal story as well as the history of Palestine. "Truly, one of the best cookbooks of the year so far."--Bon App titThe story of Palestine's food is really the story of its people. When the events of 1948 forced residents from all regions of Palestine together into one compressed land, recipes that were once closely guarded family secrets were shared and passed between different groups in an effort to ensure that they were not lost forever. In Falastin (pronounced "fa-la-steen"), Sami Tamimi retraces the lineage and evolution of his country's cuisine, born of its agriculturally optimal geography, its distinct culinary traditions, and Palestinian cooks' ingenuity and resourcefulness. Tamimi covers the territory between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River--East Jerusalem and the West Bank, up north to the Galilee and the coastal cities of Haifa and Akka, inland to Nazareth, and then south to Hebron and the coastal Gaza Strip--recounting his upbringing with eleven siblings and his decision to leave home at seventeen to cook in West Jerusalem, where he met and first worked with Yotam Ottolenghi. From refugee-camp cooks to the home kitchens of Gaza and the mill of a master tahini maker, Tamimi teases out the vestiges of an ancient culinary tradition as he records the derivations of a dynamic cuisine and people in more than 130 transporting photographs and 120 recipes, including: - Hassan's Easy Eggs with Za'atar and Lemon
- Fish Kofta with Yogurt, Sumac, and Chile
- Pulled-Lamb Schwarma Sandwich
- Labneh Cheesecake with Roasted Apricots, Honey, and Cardamom Named after the Palestinian newspaper that brought together a diverse people, Falastin is a vision of a cuisine, a culture, and a way of life as experienced by one influential chef.

Sometimes Size Does Matter
Scent: Alpine & Spice, Scent: Alpine & Spice
Let me just get this out of the way now the soap itself smells decent, nothing wrong there. I only wish I got another cent. Not that this one smells bad it’s just it wasn’t my cup of tea. I’m mostly disappointed about the size because I’ve been through this before. The soaps themselves are not big enough to fill out the box as you can spot in some of the pictures and video. I honestly feel like the soap size was different in the pictures of the customer reviews that I saw. Each bar may last me a week and a half and that’s with a soap saver. To be honest, the box that it came in would fit two decent size soaps if they filled out the box.

An excellent value for a luxurious long-lasting daily necessity
Scent: Lavender
Lovely soap with a pleasant fragrance and great lather. Real lavender buds give it an exfoliating quality without any roughness or redness. Product lasts and lasts so this crate is a true bargain. It truly is a 5 star product - I would give it 6 stars or more if possible.
I use it for facial care and am very happy with the luxurious sensation of self-care every time.

Very good bar soap
Scent: Alpine & Spice
I have been using this bar soap for about two years now. I continue to use it because of the ingredients, the way it’s manufactured, and because of how it feels on my skin in the shower and afterwards. I have only used the “no grit” flavors. The scents are ok, nothing special or exciting. Some of them barely have any scent whatsoever, and some of them have a mild scent. But none of the flavors I have tried have a strong scent, and none of the scents are bad or offensive. The lather is excellent really good lather. My skin always feels clean, hydrated, and healthy after showering with all flavors of this soap. Love this stuff. Crate 61 customer support is excellent.

Organic made.
Scent: eucamint
The smells are soothing in these soaps. They lather well and the price is affordable, especially for organically made.
