An antique hatchli bokhara rug or door hanging.I'm still learning about antique rugs, so, at the moment, I just tend to buy what I like the look of, especially if they have that country house look about them. What I know, so far, is that this rug probably would have been a large prayer rug or a door hanging in a yurt. The directional design is a typical hatchi design. The central area is divided into four by a cross, and each segment is decorated with the same double armed candlestick design.

What I know, so far, is that this rug probably would have been a large prayer rug or a door hanging in a yurt. The directional design is a typical hatchi design. The central area is divided into four by a cross, and each segment is decorated with the same double-armed candlestick design. Probably Afghan.
It has a very dark red/rusty colour to it and is in untouched condition. You may like to get it professionally cleaned to bring out the colour more, but I also like the look of it as it is.
It looks to be in good condition for its age and use, some slight fading to one small area - see photos and please ask any questions.
