In this new volume Childs uses the book of Isaiah as a case study of the church's endeavor throughout history to understand its Scriptures. In each chapter Childs focuses on a different Christian age, using the work of key figures to illustrate the church's changing views of Isaiah. After looking at the Septuagint translation, Childs examines commentaries and tractates from the patristic, Reformation, and modern periods. His review shows that despite an enormous diversity in time, culture, nationality, and audience, these works nevertheless display a family resemblance in their theological understandings of this central Old Testament text. Childs also reveals how the church struggled to adapt to changing social and historical conditions, often by correcting or refining traditional methodologies, while at the same time maintaining a theological stance measured by faithfulness to Jesus Christ. In an important final chapter Childs draws out some implications of his work for modern debates over the role of Scripture in the life of the church. Very Nice Comforter

So far, very happy with my purchase, (King size comforter). Just received yesterday, unpackaged and put inside my duvet, then realized the instructions recommend you place it in the dryer, (as it comes vacuum packed). I really didn’t feel like messing with the duvet again and yet the comforter still fluffed out very nice. The outer shell is very soft, it has decorative piping around the edges and the filling is evenly spread out throughout all the pockets. One of the nicest features are the tabs, located on all four corners and in the middle of each side, (to tie to the inside of your duvet, if your duvet has the little inner strings) great for keeping the comforter in place.

Loved everything about this duvet: great quality, true-to-size, 8 ties and REALLY big & fluffy. It was just way too warm for us, even during the winter. Wish we could find a duvet this full that was cooler.

I cannot tell you how soft this is but it's like a cloud made of cotton candy! It's so soft and fluffy! In arizona its too hot for a blanket like this most of the time but this is also really cooling. Its been great, I dont have a big washing machine so i take it to the laundromat and its still in really good shape. Its clean and looks so soft and beautiful

Lovely to and super warm but ordered too large

A beautifully made, lovely, hugely fluffy, super warm feather quilt...that was unfortunately ordered as wayyy too oversized and too warm a down weight for our high but standard profile king bed. You'll literally get lost in the thing, so floooofy. I plan on ordering a smaller and lighter version from the same company. Be aware that repackaging this requires a vacuum bag, and we were charged a significant amount for the return as it had been opened, so order carefully.
