artist biography
Carl Gösta Lindqvist was born 30 January, 1928 in Stockholm. He was a Swedish artist.
Lindqvist studied at the Essem-skolan in Malmö and the Tekniska skolan in the early 1950s. He then took study trips to Paris, Italy and Spain. He has worked as a teacher at the Målarskolan Forum painting school between 1962 and 1965.
He exhibited in both solo exhibitions and groups shows - select shows include the National Museum in Stockholm (including Unga tecknare (Young Artists) in 1952, Svensk färggrafik (Swedish Colour Graphics) in 1953), at galleries in Malmö, Lund, and Stockholm, and with Skånes konstförening,Skåne Art, Sweden's public art association - the Sveriges allmänna konstförening, and the Konstnärernas Samarbetsorganisation.
Lindqvist painted in oil, acrylic and egg tempera, and also worked as a graphic artist. He is best known for his landscapes, still life and abstract works. Classic music was a big influence on his visual art, and his favorite instrument - the violin recurs again and again in his paintings.
