सोलह सोमवार व्रत भगवान शिव को समर्पित एक अत्यंत पवित्र और फलदायी व्रत है, जिसे विशेष रूप से कुंवारी कन्याएं योग्य वर की प्राप्ति हेतु, विवाहित स्त्रियाँ पति की दीर्घायु और वैवाहिक सुख-शांति हेतु, तथा कोई भी भक्त अपने मनोकामना की पूर्ति हेतु करता है। यह व्रत लगातार सोलह सोमवार तक रखा जाता है, जिसमें उपवास किया जाता है, शिवलिंग पर बिल्वपत्र, दूध और जल अर्पित किए जाते हैं, साथ ही मंत्रोच्चारण और सोलह सोमवार व्रत कथा का पाठ भी किया जाता है। सोमवार का दिन भगवान शिव की पूजा के लिए अत्यंत शुभ माना गया है। इस व्रत से वैवाहिक सुख, करियर में सफलता, बाधाओं की समाप्ति, आध्यात्मिक उन्नति और महामृत्युंजय शिवजी की कृपा प्राप्त होती है। शास्त्रों के अनुसार, माता पार्वती ने भी यह व्रत भगवान शिव को पाने हेतु किया था, जिससे यह व्रत सभी भक्तों के लिए एक आदर्श बन गया है।
