A 15" in diameter hole will need to be cut in your counter for this sink to be used as a drop-in sink.  The sink will sit approximately 1.25" above the counter used as a drop-in sink.  This sink can be used as an under-mount sink.  Please note there are multiple ways to under mount a sink and currently we do not provide or sell under mount bracket.  It would be up to the recipient or their contractor to determine the best method to under mount the sink.
