The S.T. Dupont Andalusia Limited Edition Fountain Pen is a celebration of one of the world's most vibrant cultural crossroads. Introduced in 2003, the edition draws inspiration from Andalusia, the southern region of Spain renowned for its rich blend of Islamic, Jewish, and European artistic traditions. Throughout centuries of cultural exchange, Andalusia became home to some of the most breathtaking architecture and decorative arts ever created, and it is this heritage that serves as the foundation for one of S.T. Dupont's most visually captivating limited editions.

Rather than commemorating a single historical figure or event, the Andalusia collection celebrates an entire artistic tradition. Through a masterful combination of Chinese lacquer, platinum finishes, and geometric ornamentation inspired by Moorish tilework, S.T. Dupont created a writing instrument that feels both timeless and unmistakably Mediterranean. More than two decades after its introduction, the Andalusia remains one of the most distinctive cultural-themed editions ever produced by the French maison.

Craftsmanship & Design

The defining feature of the Andalusia is its extraordinary mosaic-inspired surface. The design draws directly from the tradition of azulejos, the painted ceramic tilework that adorns palaces, courtyards, churches, and historic buildings throughout southern Spain. Introduced and refined through centuries of Moorish influence, these geometric patterns became one of the most recognizable artistic signatures of Andalusian architecture.

S.T. Dupont translated this architectural heritage into a writing instrument through an intricate composition of geometric motifs executed in multiple shades of blue Chinese lacquer. Deep sapphire, turquoise, and lighter sky-blue tones interact across the barrel and cap, creating a striking visual rhythm reminiscent of historic Andalusian tilework. The patterns appear almost architectural in nature, giving the pen a sense of structure and movement that changes depending upon viewing angle and light.

The lacquer work is framed by platinum-plated appointments that provide crisp contrast against the vibrant blues. The cool brilliance of the platinum enhances the richness of the lacquer while echoing the interplay of light and shadow found within the courtyards and palaces that inspired the collection. The overall effect is sophisticated rather than ornate, allowing the decorative artistry to remain the focal point.

As with many of S.T. Dupont's finest limited editions, the craftsmanship extends beyond the visual. The combination of lacquer, metalwork, and precision finishing creates a surface that possesses remarkable depth and luminosity, rewarding close observation with subtle details that are easily missed at first glance.

The Artistic Heritage of Andalusia

Few regions in Europe possess an artistic legacy as distinctive as Andalusia. For centuries, the region served as a meeting point between cultures, resulting in a unique visual language that blended Islamic geometry, European craftsmanship, and Mediterranean influences. The elaborate tilework found throughout cities such as Seville, Granada, and Córdoba became enduring symbols of this creative fusion.

The art of azulejos is particularly significant because it transforms mathematical precision into visual beauty. Repeating geometric forms create patterns that appear endlessly complex while maintaining perfect balance and harmony. By incorporating these motifs into the Andalusia collection, S.T. Dupont paid tribute not only to a specific decorative tradition but also to the broader ideals of craftsmanship, symmetry, and artistic excellence that define the region.

The resulting pen feels less like a conventional writing instrument and more like a miniature piece of architectural art, carrying the spirit of Andalusia's historic palaces and courtyards into a form that can be held in the hand.

Writing Experience

Beneath its elaborate exterior, the Andalusia remains a serious writing instrument designed for daily use. The pen is fitted with an 18-karat gold nib that delivers the smooth, refined writing experience expected from a luxury S.T. Dupont fountain pen. Responsive performance, dependable ink flow, and careful tuning create a writing character that complements the elegance of the exterior.

The balanced proportions ensure comfort during extended writing sessions, while the cartridge/converter filling system provides convenience and practicality. Like many of S.T. Dupont's finest creations, the Andalusia succeeds because it functions equally well as a collector's piece and as a writing instrument intended to be enjoyed regularly.

Collector Significance

The Andalusia occupies a special place within the history of S.T. Dupont's thematic limited editions because it demonstrates the company's ability to translate architectural and cultural inspiration into a cohesive artistic statement. Rather than relying on portraits, historical figures, or overt symbolism, the edition allows pattern, color, and craftsmanship to tell the story.

Collectors are often drawn to the Andalusia because of its distinctive visual identity and its connection to one of the world's most celebrated decorative traditions. The combination of multiple shades of blue lacquer, platinum appointments, and intricate geometric design ensures that the pen stands apart even within S.T. Dupont's extensive catalog of limited editions.

Limited to 2,500 fountain pens worldwide, the Andalusia represents an era when S.T. Dupont was producing some of its most ambitious cultural-themed collections. For collectors of fine lacquer work, architectural-inspired design, and significant French luxury writing instruments, it remains one of the most memorable releases of the early twenty-first century.

Great value for your money!
Color: A-Silver
Yessss! Real espresso maker! Excellent brewing capacity. Easy to use. Made with great quality material. The machine comes with all the pamphlets & easy to read instructions which say to heat twice for extra hot coffee, but honestly the coffee comes out VERY hot & tasty without double-heating. Also comes carefully packaged to prevent damage during delivery. Great value for your money!

Plastic, but Well Performing Machine
Color: A-Silver
My household has been using the Casabrewa 5418 PRO multiple times a day for over a month now. It's function and directions are excellent. With some experimenting, it makes acceptable and delicious espresso. This is an entry model machine that does exactly what you want it to. It heats fast and produces espresso fast. However, for the price point the amount of plastic is a bit disappointing. The machine has the appearance of being stainless steel while being constructed almost entirely of plastic. If you want an entry level espresso machine and you don't mind the plastic, this is an excellent option.

Who cares if its plastic... let's not be silly
Color: A-Silver
Why are people so obsessed with metal housing? Metal literally serves no purpose. It's just a cover. It won't make a better coffee with metal housing nor will it last longer. I personally don't care what it "feels" like to touch it, I don't even notice it. I make coffee with it, it's a tool. I don't touch it to "feel how nice it is". That's just weird. Anyway, what a great machine. To me instant heating is worth all the missing features of fancier machines combined. I've had it for several months now, and I have it dialed in. I make up to 5-6 lattes a day and I've made about a 1000 by now. Still working great. Not interested in upgrading.

Great Budget Espresso Machine That Performs Better Than Others Costing Much More
Color: A-Silver
I’ve been using the Casabrews 5418 Pro for a few months now and it’s been a solid addition to my kitchen. It looks sleek and feels well‑built for the price, and it heats up extremely fast — reaching brewing temperature in just a few seconds thanks to its FlashHeat™ system. The 20‑bar pump and built‑in pressure gauge give you good feedback while pulling shots, and the steam wand produces nicely textured milk for lattes and cappuccinos. The removable water tank is a nice touch and makes refilling easy. While it’s not perfect — the included portafilter and tamper feel a budget‑oriented and the pressurized baskets don’t deliver espresso as rich as you’d get from higher‑end machines — it’s a great performer for beginners or casual espresso drinkers. Upgrade the portafilter basket and tamper but for a more premium experience especially if using it daily. That said, the included accessories are perfectly fine for a casual user. Overall, this machine offers excellent value for the price. If you want a compact, easy‑to‑use espresso maker that consistently produces enjoyable drinks (especially milk‑based ones), this is a great choice. I am more than pleased with my purchase and you will be too. One thing that I learned and it’s the most significant piece of information I will pass along. You don’t need an espresso dark roast coffee for espresso. It’s your preferred roast, grind, and freshness that make the difference. Try your favorite roast in an espresso grind and enjoy!
