Після перемоги над нацистами переховувався від совєтів у британському секторі й зрештою емігрував до Британії, де згодом став успішним політиком і першим з українців дійшов аж до Парламенту.

Спираючись на власний досвід, Терлецький узяв собі за політичну місію розвінчання комуністичної облуди; він надзвичайно радів, коли в 1991 році СРСР розпався й Україна здобула незалежність. Життєпис Стефана Терлецького захоплює, наче гостросюжетне кіно, й не залишить байдужим нікого, хто, як і він, щиро любить Україну.
