Voor wonden met exsudaat (vochtonwikkeling) is Revamil Melginate ontwikkeld. Dit zijn alginaat gazen die wondvocht absorberen en afvoeren. Deze zijn gedeeltelijk met honing geïmpregneerd om infecties te bestrijden en te voorkomen.

De belangrijkste eigenschappen van Revamil® Melginate zijn:

Wondvocht absorptie
Als Revamil® Melginate op een excuderende wond wordt aangebracht, wordt door absorptie van wondvocht een gel gevormd die de wond beschermt tegen maceratie. Door de eigenschappen van de alginaat wordt in contact met wondvocht direct een onoplosbare, stevige gel gevormd. De gel dekt de wond af en handhaaft een vochtig wondmilieu.

Bescherming tegen wondinfecties
De alginaat dressing en de daaruit gevormde gel beschermen de wond tegen binnendringen van bacteriën, welke nog versterkt wordt door de aanwezigheid van de honing. De lage pH van de honing zorgt voor een zuur milieu waardoor de wond sneller geneest. Doordat de gel niet aan de wond kleeft en er geen residuen achterblijven in de wond wordt een eenvoudige wisseling van het wondverband bevorderd.

Prikken
Honing kan vlak na het aanbrengen misschien een beetje prikken, maar bij gebruik van Melginate treedt dit zelden op.

Geen korstvorming
Honing zorgt voor een vochtig wondmilieu, waardoor er minder kans is op korstvorming.

Weg met de vieze wondgeur
Wondgeur ontstaat vooral door bacteriën die in de wond allerlei stoffen produceren die zeer onaangenaam ruiken. Revamil® hydrofiele wondgel vormt een beschermend laagje dat bacteriën doodt.

Revamil® Melginate is geschikt voor verschillende typen, exsuderende wonden. Raadpleeg bij ernstige wonden altijd uw huisarts. In de tabel hieronder kunt u lezen voor welke wonden Revamil® Melginate kan worden toegepast.

Drie jaar. Na openen van de verpakking direct gebruiken

Gebruik
Revamil® Melginate uit de verpakking halen en direct aanbrengen op de wond. Het geïmpregneerde alginaat gaasje afdekken met een droog wondverband. Revamil Melginate na 1 tot maximaal 3 dagen vervangen door een nieuw alginaat. De behandeling stoppen als de wond is gesloten.
