Birkenstock ontwikkelde in 1902 het eerste anatomisch gevormde voetbed en bouwde daar een eeuw orthopedische expertise op, lang voordat sandalen een modeverschijnsel werden. Die medische achtergrond is precies waarom het merk de afgelopen jaren door zoveel ontwerpers en modehuizen werd omarmd zonder de eigen identiteit ooit helemaal te verliezen.

Deze bruine Birkenstock Arizona is gemaakt van 100% suède leer en gemaakt in Duitsland. Het model heeft twee individueel verstelbare riemen met metalen pinbalans-gespen en rust op een Soft Footbed, waarbij een extra schuimlaag tussen de kurk-latex zool en de suède voering is verwerkt voor meer demping dan de standaard kurkzool. De buitenzool is van lichtgewicht EVA voor flexibiliteit en grip. Dit Birkenstock Arizona model onderscheidt zich van imitatiesandalen door die kurk-latex constructie, die zich blijvend naar de vorm van de voet plooit in plaats van enkel tijdelijk in te drukken. Omdat de zool volledig vervangbaar is bij een vakbekwame schoenmaker, gaat dit model bovendien jaren langer mee dan een sandaal met een vastgelijmde zool, wat de aanschafprijs op de lange termijn relativeert en deze Birkenstock Arizona tot een verstandige investering maakt in plaats van een seizoensgebonden aankoop die na één zomer alweer wordt vervangen.

Great for the entire family but expensive
So far so good. The brand of boxers we had been buying changed their style and construction so we needed to find an alternative. These have held up well so far to multiple weeks of frequent washing and wearing from the entire family. We did size up from the usual 6/M we normally buy and ordered large to prevent the legs from rolling up which worked out great. Our daughter likes the length and how soft the fabric is for wearing under skirts and gym shorts and liners stay put without moving or leaking as another reviewer mentioned. Our son says they are comfortable and fit well being just supportive enough without being constrictive. We all agree that there seems to be not enough fabric in the back as they tend to be much tighter across the backside than the front and that also causes the waist band to ride lower in the back than the front. These have better seam placement than some brands we tried with no seam across the lady bits and no seam down the middle of the back side so they are more much comfortable but the cost is also much higher and that is why we're only giving it 4 stars. These will stay in the rotation until we find something cheaper that both us and the kids like.
