Philip & Rosalie maken wijnen op de steile hellingen in de Duitse Mosel. Philip verhuisde in 2014 vanuit Amsterdam naar de Mosel en Rosalie voegde zich vanuit Oregon in 2022 bij hem. Philip werkte eerder onder andere bij Clemens Busch en Ulli Stein en begon in 2016 met een aantal vaten Riesling aan zijn eigen label. Rosalie werkte o.a. in Californië en maakte daar ook wijn, maar na haar ervaring in de Mosel besloot ze de stap te wagen. 

Samen trotseren ze de steile hellingen en maken ze prachtige langgerijpte Rieslings en Pinot Noir. Der Schiefer is de instap 100% Riesling, gemaakt van verschillende percelen. Vandaar het andere kleur label dan de single vineyards. Maar vergis je niet. Dit zijn steile hellingen, met deels oude, ongeënte stokken en hard werk. 

Deze 2023 is een blend van Riesling druiven uit Sankt Aldegund, Bullay en Zell. Koud gemacereerd voor een aantal uur, vervolgens de volledige fermentatie op houten vat, gevolgd door 14 maanden rijping in tonneau. Dit is volledig droge, prachtige complexe Rieslings zoals je ze weinig tegen komt.

In de wijngaard: Oude en jonge stokken, volledig bewerkt met hand van zeer steile hellingen.
In de wijnkelder: Koud gemacereerd voor een aantal uur, vervolgens de volledige fermentatie op houten vat, gevolgd door 14 maanden rijping in tonneau.
Proefnotitie: gele nectarine, Granny smith appel, meloen met parmaham, lavas, kamperfoelie

The best for fetching enthusiasts
We have two lab mix dogs that love to play fetch but also have very strong jaws and sharp teeth. Tennis balls last about 10 seconds. I have used these for several years now and they are the best.
