Marqués de Riscal Tempranillo y Syrah is de soepele, moderne rode wijn van dit historische huis, gemaakt buiten de klassieke Rioja regels in de alluviale gronden langs de Duero. De focus ligt op zorgvuldig geselecteerde Tempranillo van zanderige bodems, aangevuld met Syrah voor extra diepte en structuur. Wat voor wijn is Marqués de Riscal Tempranillo y Syrah precies? Het is een rond, zacht en toegankelijk rood uit Castilla y León met veel fruit en een verrassend verfijnde balans voor alledaags gebruik.

Wijngaarden en regio

De druiven komen uit Spanje, uit Castilla y León, uit de alluviale landen van de Duero regio waar de rivier brede terrassen met zandige bodems heeft achtergelaten. Juist op deze zanderige gronden selecteert Marqués de Riscal de beste Tempranillo wijngaarden voor deze cuvée, omdat de stokken hier druiven geven met veel kleur en rijp fruit maar ook frisse zuren. Het wijnhuis zelf vindt zijn oorsprong in 1858 en geldt als de oudste bodega in Rioja, maar kiest voor deze wijn bewust voor een herkomst buiten de klassieke denominaties om maximale vrijheid te hebben in de stijl. In 2024 werd Marqués de Riscal bovendien uitgeroepen tot beste wijngaard van de wereld, wat onderstreept hoe serieus dit huis de kwaliteit van zijn wijngaarden neemt.

Vinificatie en rijping

Alleen perfect rijpe Tempranillo wordt met de hand geplukt in kleine kratten zodat de trossen onbeschadigd in de kelder aankomen. De gisting vindt plaats bij gecontroleerde temperatuur, met een relatief korte schilinweking om veel kleur en fruit te halen zonder harde tannines op te bouwen. Aansluitend verloopt de malolactische gisting in kuip, wat de zuren afrondt en de wijn een zachtere textuur geeft. Syrah wordt vervolgens toegevoegd om extra structuur, kruidigheid en diepte te brengen, waardoor een intens gekleurde, evenwichtige wijn ontstaat met een uitgesproken aromatisch karakter en een alcoholpercentage van 14%.

Druivensamenstelling

Tempranillo – zanderige alluviale bodems in de Duero regio
Tempranillo vormt de basis van deze wijn en zorgt voor de intense zwartekersenkleur, het kernfruit van rode bessen en de ronde, zachte structuur.

Syrah – geselecteerde percelen in Castilla y León
Syrah wordt in kleinere hoeveelheid toegevoegd en geeft extra structuur, kruidige toets en diepte in geur en smaak, waardoor de blend meer lengte en complexiteit krijgt.

Proefnotities en serveertips

In het glas heeft Marqués de Riscal Tempranillo y Syrah een diepe zwartekersenkleur met paarse glinstering. De geur wordt gedomineerd door rode bessen en zoethout, wat meteen de fruitige, uitnodigende stijl verraadt. In de mond proef je een frisse, ronde wijn met veel rood fruit, een zachte textuur en een uitgesproken fruitige afdronk, gemaakt om gemakkelijk te drinken en toch karakter te tonen.

OK for the price, but overall comfort is avergae

Easy to put together, color (mustard) accurate to images, and while I understand this is not a high-end chair, I feel like it still needs to be rated for its quality. Pros: the seat cushions are fairly comfortable and it rolls well. Adjustable footrest is easy enough and mostly sturdy. Cons: For a tall office chair, it doesn't go up high enough. I actually had to lower my standing desk to sit at it, which then isn't where I want it when I'm standing now. It's also a bit wobbly. The seat area's attachment to the post isn't as solid as it should be for a tall chair, so while sitting, it does tend to lean/slope forward and wobble side to side. The lumbar support is not adjustable, so I'm not even really sure what it does. And the armrests are not very comfortable to use. Since they are hard plastic, they are just a bit too rigid to rely on for any comfort. They are basically there to hold on to when you're getting out of the chair.
