G.D. Vajra werd in 1972 door Aldo Vajra opgericht. De initialen verwijzen naar de grootvader van wie hij de wijngaarden erfde. Samen met zijn vrouw bouwde hij het bedrijf op, met het doel wijnen te produceren onder eigen label. En deze wijnen worden uitsluitend van eigen druiven gemaakt. In de loop van de jaren zijn dochter Francesca en de zonen Giuseppe en Isidoro ook in het bedrijf gekomen. Zij maken hun Barolo's op traditionele wijze: nadruk op elegantie met een verfijnd bouquet en een gebalanceerde smaak. Dit bereiken zij door naast roestvrijestalen vaten voor de vinificatie te werken met grote foeders van Sloweens eiken voor de rijping. De Albe Barolo is een blend van Nebbiolo druiven uit drie wijngaarden: Fossati, Coste di Vegrne en La Volta. Albe in het Italiaans verwijst naar de zonsopkomst boven de drie wijngaarden. De wijngaarden worden duurzaam bewerkt. De oogst in handmatig en vindt plaats in de tweede helft van oktober. De nauwkeurige selectie van de trossen gebeurt in de wijngaard. De vinificatie duurt dertig tot veertig dagen en de rijping in Sloweens eiken rond de drie jaar.De harmonieuze Albe Barolo
In de geur tonen van rood fruit, pruimen, hout, bloemen en nog heel veel meer. Ook over de smaak raken wij niet uitgepraat, een hele hoop wijn! Heel mooi harmonieus, met hinten van drop, laurier, anijs, zoethout, pruim, cacao en zwart fruit! Prima finale die past bij deze wijn! I Smell Like a Gentleman Who Owns a Fireplace
