Deze komt oorspronkelijk uit Zuid-Afrika waar boeren een oude ploegschaar ('Skottelskaar) boven een vuur plaatsten om eten te bereiden. Dit was de basis voor het ontstaan van de huidige Skottelbraai. De Skottel is een soort grote, geemailleerde wok met een diameter van 49cm en is perfect om buiten allerlei gerechten te bereiden; van eieren en pannenkoek tot roerbakgerechten en worstjes of ander vlees/vis. Is een deel van het eten klaar, dan kun je dit aan de buitenkant van de Skottel warm houden met behulp van zogenaamde voedselscheiders. Naast de Skottel wordt deze handige gasbarbecue geleverd met een pandrager; ideaal om een pan soep of pasta op te koken. De Skottelbraai weegt slechts 6kg en is makkelijk mee te nemen, dankzij het aluminium onderstel dat eenvoudig los geschroefd kan worden.
