This is a Fender Custom Shop 1964 Stratocaster in super faded Shell Pink. It features a two piece alder body, thick '60s C-shape maple neck with a 9.5" radius dark Rosewood fingerboard, and handwired true single-coil pickups. This Strat also comes equipped with one of the most requested features on a Custom Shop Fender: Narrow-tall/6105 frets.
This Custom Shop Strat features the Journeyman relic package, which embodies the aesthetic of a worn-but-loved Strat having seen years and miles on the road. Its nitrocellulose finish shows checking and age, the neck has been sanded to remove its lacquer for what some players deem as allowing smoother playing, and saddles and hardware show age and exposure to the elements.
Shell Pink is one of the more desired custom colors from the 1960s. Besides the fact that they're fetching arm and leg prices, there first comes the daring feat of tracking one down! What an instrument like this particular Custom Shop Strat allows is for an attainable with as close to vintage sound as possible today, but with the added benefits of modern playability.
This is a tremendous sounding Stratocaster, most definitely capturing the sonic qualities of an early-to-mid '60s Strat - warm, fat, and punchy with an excellent dynamic range. The middle pickup on this guitar is reverse wound/reverse polarity, making positions two and four hum free, and the bridge and middle pickup share a tone pot. Its thick C-shape neck fills the hand generously and is incredibly comfortable to play. Like to overbend? There aren't any fret-outs on this Strat, thanks to its 9.5" fingerboard and tall frets.
A Fender Custom Shop instrument never displeases, and this '64 Shell Pink Strat is a prime example of Custom Shop build quality and tone.
