This vintage Franco-American Catholic fraternal medal top part with two hands shaking. Underneath that is the "Pres. Honoraire". The first round medal has an engraved border (eagle on top) with a colorful center section marked "L'Union St. Jean Baptiste D'Amerique Fondee Le 7 Mai 1900". Two tassels fall nicely from each side of the top part of the chain. This item is in beautiful shape. It would make a wonderful piece to anyone's collection.
The Union Saint-Jean-Baptiste d’Amerique (USJB) was founded on May 7, 1900 in Woonsocket, RI. The USJB was a fraternal organization for Franco-Americans living in New England, and other states with large Franco-American populations. The USJB promoted the social and moral welfare of its members, helped their sick and poor members, as well as the relatives of deceased members.
