These changes make it possible for the improved version of the airplane to operate at a higher gross weight. First deliveries of Super King Airs were made in early 1974, and the better capability of this airplane resulted in the company getting contracts from US forces for Model 200s to be used for communications, light transport, and reconnaissance aircraft.
