From a young age, Gabe Allan (1982-2019) had a striking aptitude for drawing and artistry in a variety of mediums. Following his personal inclinations, he qualified for a B.A. degree from UVA in Religious Studies (2015), all the while continuing his artistic studies under local mentorship. After graduation, Allan opened a studio at McGuffey Art Center here in Charlottesville. He also spent a great deal of time traveling to further explore his religious interests. Personal tragedy then led him to volunteer with Hospice and eventually qualify for an Associate's Degree in Nursing in 2018. Through these experiences, he developed a powerful awareness of personal shifts in subjective reality that eventually led him to put this perception into the physical form of this bronze piece.
