Job woonde als tiener kort in Veurssen. Hij was een excentrieke buitenstaander in het dorp. Na een jaar vertrok hij, reisde de wereld over en belandde uiteindelijk in Brussel.

Jaren later kruisen hun paden elkaar opnieuw. Wat begint als een hernieuwde kennismaking, brengt uiteindelijk Marcs zorgvuldig opgebouwde bestaan aan het wankelen.

'Vrijhaven' is een aangrijpende roman over het spanningsveld tussen loyaliteit en verlangen, tussen wie je bent en wie je denkt te moeten zijn.

Cyriel Heuts (1985) keerde na tien jaar in Amsterdam te hebben gewoond terug naar zijn geboortestreek in Zuid-Limburg. Hij werkte als journalist en presentator voor regionale media. 'Vrijhaven' is zijn debuutroman.
