L2000 Reagents for On-Site PCB Testing of Transformer Oil

The Oil Reagent packs for use with the L2000DX or DXT analyzer include everything needed for PCB screening of transformer oil and are available by packs of 40 and bulk packs of 200.

Preparing an oil sample for analysis is simple and takes less than 5 minutes.  The L2000 test method involves reacting an oil sample with a sodium reagent to strip the covalently bonded chlorine from the PCB molecule converting it to inorganic chloride.  The resulting chloride is then detected and quantified using a chloride ion specific electrode.   The L2000DX or DXT analyzer then mathematically converts the chloride reading to the equivalent concentration of the target analyte based on the percent chlorine associated with the analyte.  Conversion programs are available for the most common Aroclors and Askarel A.  Custom conversion programs can be built for less common analyte(s) not included on the L2000DX or DXT menu, instructions are included in the user's manual.

The usable result range is (MDL) 3 ppm - 2000 ppm.  Results for the L2000DXT are displayed on the 7" LCD touch screen and are stored in the internal memory.  Results may also be saved to an external flash drive for easy uploading to an Excel program to make later recall and reporting quick and easy.

NOTE:  This screening method is for DIELECTRIC FLUID (transformer oil) ONLY.  It cannot be used to determine PCB contamination of any other type of oil (i.e. used motor oil or other lubricants/industrial oils).  Laboratory analysis is the only option for PCB testing of lubricating/industrial oils.

L2000 Reagents for On-Site Analysis of Soil for PCB/Chlorinated Organics

U.S. EPA SW-846 METHOD 9078

The L2000DXT PCB/organic chlorine analyzer is a field portable instrument that can quantify chlorinated compounds in *all types of soil. Soils contaminated with PCBs, chlorinated solvents, or chlorinated pesticides/herbicides can be tested on-site in just 10 minutes. Screening with the L2000DXT system can greatly reduce the number of samples requiring expensive, time intensive laboratory analysis allowing for faster decision making in the field regarding delineation, excavation, remediation.

Collected soil samples are extracted and reacted with a sodium reagent to strip the covalently bonded chlorine from the analyte(s) converting it to inorganic chloride.  The resulting chloride is then detected and quantified using a chloride ion specific electrode.  The L2000DXT then mathematically converts the chloride reading to the equivalent concentration  of the target analyte based on the percent chlorine associated with the analyte.  Note:  Inorganic chloride, e.g. road salt, will not interfere with the test.  Conversion programs are available for all major Aroclors and most common chlorinated solvents and pesticides.  Custom conversion programs can be built for less common analyte(s) not included on the L2000DX menu, instructions are included in the user manual.

The usable result range for the L2000DXT is (MDL) 3 ppm - 2000 ppm.  Results are displayed on a 7" LCD touch screen and are stored in the internal memory.  Results may also be saved to an external flash drive for easy uploading to an Excel program to make later recall and reporting quick and easy.

*Some soils, such as wet clays, can pose an extraction problem. For information on dealing with difficult to solvate soils, please go to L2000 Two-Step Soil Reagents.

Note:  The L2000 soil reagents may used with both the L2000DX and L2000DXT analyzers.

L2000 Reagents for use with L2000DX or DXT Analyzer System for Quantifying Chlorinated Organics in Groundwater

The L2000DXT PCB/organic chlorine analyzer system is an efficient, accurate tool for determining chlorinated organic compound contamination in groundwater. The L2000DXT is very easy to use with a variety of programmed methods specifically designed for water testing. Extraction efficiencies and conversion factors for over a dozen chlorinated compounds have been programmed into the instrument for accurate in-field results. In addition to the available programmed methods, customized methods can be designed by the user incorporating characteristics specific for site location and analyte.

Field trial and laboratory validation studies show that water analysis using the L2000 test method compares very well with expensive laboratory methods. This data shows that the L2000 method can accurately determine the true contaminate concentration in two ranges. The test method offers two result options: Low range: (*MDL) 20 ppb to 5 ppm (requires a 1 liter sample), and high range (*MDL) 3 ppm to 2000 ppm. Inorganic chloride will not interfere with the test.

Results for the L2000DXT are displayed on a 7" LCD touch screen and are stored in the internal memory.  Results may also be saved to an external flash drive for easy uploading to an Excel program to make later recall and reporting quick and easy.

*Note:  MDL & MQL are analyte dependent.

PCB Test Reagents for Surface Wipe Samples for Use with the L2000DX or DXT Analyzer

The L2000DXT Analyzer System offers environmental testing versatility including PCB testing of surface wipe samples.  If waiting for laboratory results for surface wipes is not an option, the L2000DXT system can provide on-the-spot screening in just a few easy steps with results in less than 10 minutes.  This test method requires wiping an area 1000 cm2; results are provided in µg PCB/100 cm2 .  Results are not specific to any Aroclor, they are determined by extracting and quantifying the chlorine associated with PCBs.  The amount of chlorine is directly proportional to the amount of PCB.

Collected wipe samples are extracted and reacted with a sodium reagent to strip the covalently bonded chlorine from the analyte(s) converting it to inorganic chloride.  The resulting chloride is then detected and quantified using a chloride ion specific electrode.  The L2000DXT then mathematically converts the chloride reading to the equivalent concentration  of the target analyte based on the percent chlorine associated with the analyte. Conversion programs are available for all major Aroclors and most common chlorinated solvents and pesticides.  Custom conversion programs can be built for less common analyte(s) not included in the L2000DXT menu, instructions are included in the user manual.

The usable result range is (MDL) 3 µg 100cm2 to 2000 µg 100cm2.  Results for the L2000DXT are displayed on the 7" LCD touch screen and are stored in the internal memory.  Results may also be saved to an external flash drive for easy uploading to an Excel program to make later recall and reporting quick and easy.

In addition to test reagents, each wipe reagent pack include everything needed to collect 20 wipe samples; gauze pads, individually sealed glass ampules containing chromatographic hexane, sample vials, as well as PCB rated gloves and plastic goggles for safety.

Note:  The L2000 wipe reagents may be used with both the L2000DX and L2000DXT analyzers.

L2000 Two-Step Soil Extraction Recommended for Hard to Extract Wet Clays

Soils, such as wet clays, pose an extraction problem with most extraction solvents on the market today. If the extraction solvent cannot solvate the soil and remove the contaminant efficiently, an underestimation of the contaminant will occur. Dexsil has developed a "Two-Step Extraction Method" that allows difficult soils to be solvated efficiently for accurate and reliable results. An on-site study using the two-step method to extract PCB from lacustrine clay demonstrated that when compared to a soxhlet extraction method, the 2-step method had an extraction efficiency of >78%.

Custom conversion programs can be built for less common analyte(s) not included on the L2000DXT menu, instructions are included in the user manual.

Great Multi-Function Watch
Color: Gray/Digital/Gray
I absolutely love my Timex Ironman watches. I have had many over a very long period of time. Wonderful set of functions for the price. Very affordable. Easy to use. Lasts a long time. Very easy to read in standard lighting. I like the Indiglo when needed, but do not use it too often. Absolutely love the ability to set a repeat timer to remind me to do something at a fixed interval, or to keep me on task for a fixed period of time. Great to be able to set three independent alarms. Potential to capture a huge number of splits with the stopwatch. I purchased this watch to replace a similar model with a dead battery. I have replaced batteries in the past, but it is quicker and easier to buy a replacement watch. I am saving my old watches for that day in the future when the Ironman model may no longer be available. I expect this will be my watch of choice for the rest of my life.

Just fine if you have simple needs...
Color: Black/Digital/Black/Green
Exactly what I needed: a cheap, durable wrist watch. The only thing it was lacking were instructions, but about 5 minutes of messing with the buttons got it set up

Compared to g-shock?
Color: Black/Yellow
Firstly random public reviews can be comical…”it’s has a battery, terrible, One star” or “I don’t like yellow, one star” omg peoples do better. I’ll review this while comparing to an older style of g-shock from the same era. I’ll start by saying this timex rocks, for me in my mid 50’s it’s so retro and nastalgic, brings back memories, I may have even owned this model back in the day. What’s great about it- the display, larger digits than the typical g-shock and they are super crisp, clear and easy to read. The indiglo is awesome. This is the most accurate quartz watch I have aside from the atomic g-shocks that adjust themselves daily. I prefer a chunky watch and the g-shocks do a better job in that department. i feel this watch is rugged, but I’d still give the nod to g-shock in this department. 200M water resistance is the gold standard and this watch has it which I love for peace of mind for any water based activities. This is a 5 star watch at a great price. I still love some aspects of a g-shock better but its just preference.
