The compact and ergonomically designed Alco-Sensor® FST Alcohol Test Device from Abbott is used for professional alcohol breath analysis. The test result can be displayed either in mg/l or Promille and is available after only 3 to 10 seconds. The test device measures values of up to 2.20 mg/l  or 5 promille and is not influenced by acetone or other substances. In addition, it offers an internal memory for more than 800 screening results, which can be exported quickly and easily via Mini-USB.

To ensure an uncomplicated test procedure even in poor lighting conditions, such as at dusk or at night, the device not only has an illuminated mouthpiece guide, but also a backlit LCD display with numerical and graphic prompts. Sampling can be performed passively, directly or via liquid testing, as required.

An innovative pressure sensor detects the presence of a sample and thanks to automatic aspiration detection, stops backflow so that mouthpieces with a re-breathing barrier are not required. Thanks to their sophisticated design, the matching Alco-Sensor®  mouthpiece direct the test subject's breath away from the user. In this way, the risk of infection transmission is minimized. A built-in temperature sensor, on the other hand, is used to monitor the test conditions in real time.

Passive Test Procedure

Thanks to the accessories included in the scope of delivery, it is possible to operate a passive test mode. Two passive cups as well as a liquid tester are available for this purpose. While the passive cup, which can easily be attached to the test system, is used for the test person to blow into the cup from a few centimetres away, the liquid tester is held over unknown liquids. It is not immersed - the simple intake of possible gases is sufficient for analysis.
