Boeing 727 JT8D Engine Exhaust Mixer Shelf

This wall shelf looks like a fine piece of modern metal sculpture-but it's actually made out of the exhaust mixer from a Pratt & Whitney JT8D engine used on a Boeing 727 jetliner. The 727 trijet debuted many technological innovations that are still in use today. The company built more than 1,800 of the popular jets, which were powered by Pratt & Whitney JT8D low-bypass turbofan engines. The exhaust mixer in a jet engine combines cool bypass air with hot exhaust air, enhancing thrust and reducing exhaust temperatures. To make this shelf, our craftspeople cleaned and polished a semi-circular piece from the exhaust mixer and fitted it with a custom half-inch-thick piece of glass. It includes welded supports and can be attached to a wall with screws (not included). A Certificate of Authenticity and Custom Hangar plaque are included. Measures 36"L x 18"D x 12"H.
