The Martin D-28 is one of the all time greatest acoustic guitars. Having had decades worth of popular music written and performed on this model guitar, the D-28 comes with a heritage and a need to inspire the next great song to be written. This interpretation of the D-28 comes from the Martin Custom Shop, commissioned exclusively by Russo Music.

This D-28 features an Adirondack Spruce top, which is known to feature a warm and punchy tone - giving strummers and fingerstyle players alike a guitar that suits their performance. For the back and sides we have Cocobolo - a tropical Central American hardwood. Cocobolo is known for elaborate grain and style, and can often be seen in elaborate woodworking. The wood is also featured as this D-28’s peghead laminate.

This Custom Shop D-28 has a pleasant, percussive character - with an additional punch from the Adirondack Spruce top. Notes fall out of this guitar with ease, and dynamics are properly accentuated. Helping make this guitar look as good as it sounds is a beautiful Herringbone over Maple binding. It is an incredible tool for songwriting and performance and a stellar a lifetime investment. I'm very pleased with the way this shirt looks on me. Despite being a "squeeze" material, it's quite comfortable to wear. The fit, at least for me, is spot-on. Design-wise, I found that the lines on the front of the shoulders look a little odd, almost like they're supposed to the shoulder seams. But overall, I really like this shirt, and $20 for a shirt that fits this well is a steal.

Bizarre bottom hem shape

First, my stats: I’m 6 foot 1, 185 pounds. I ordered a medium size. At first glance, I liked this shirt, but after observing what the bottom looks like, I’m not even sure I want to keep this. A picture is worth many words, so take a look at the ones I included in this review. The bottom hem in the front curves down in a strange sort of “tunic” style. This renders the garment completely unwearable in my opinion, as this is not a shirt that I think would look good tucked into pants. If the bottom of the shirt was flat/straight, it would be four or five stars. As such, I’m rating this three stars because the only thing wrong with this shirt is the bottom, and this might not bother everyone else.

Considering that this brand tends to be a bit hit-or-miss (mostly hit) I was apprehensive about the fit and sizing. These fit so well that I bought other colours and have no issue with the sleeve length (often cheaper brands have very short sleeves) nor with the length of the body of the shirt. They look great, the fabric quality is excellent, and the colours are compatible with a broad range of pants (you can't go past black pants, black jacket/blazer, and any colour of this underneath).
