L'oxyde de zirconium, couramment appelé zircone cubique dans le monde de la bijouterie, est une pierre synthétique qui imite l'apparence du diamant. Bien qu'il soit très différent du diamant en termes de composition chimique et de propriétés physiques.

L'oxyde de zirconium est toujours fabriqué en laboratoire. Il est produit en faisant fondre du zirconium sous forme de poudre avec de l'oxygène, puis en le faisant cristalliser dans une structure cubique.

À première vue, la zircone cubique peut être facilement confondue avec un diamant en raison de sa brillance et de son feu. Elle est souvent incolore, mais comme il s'agit d'une pierre fabriquée, elle peut être produite dans une variété de couleurs.
