A white woman, cast adrift from European invaders, finds friendship and a sense of belonging with the Gunaikurnai – the First Nations people of East Gippsland, Victoria. She witnesses the rising tide of near annihilation of her new family. Their fate seems sealed. Sarah must make a choice – give herself up to the often brutal, misogynistic and prejudiced authorities who’ve been searching for her over the years or reinvent herself and continue her search for her beloved father, a shipwright, who journeyed to Van Diemen’s Land/Lutruwita in advance of her.
